Red Umbrella Inn

My hubby and I had a wonderful stay at the Red Umbrella! Although we only stayed for one night and didn’t get to explore the view, our cabin was spotlessly clean, and the staff was incredibly warm and attentive. They even kindly brought water bottles to our cabin at no charge. While the cabin had a charming, vintage feel, its cleanliness truly made it special. I brought a large group of families with young kids for a retreat weekend in early September. The rooms were clean, easy and comfortable. They organized group breakfasts for us, which was buffet style and great. The owner was so flexible and kind. Our kids ran around, played by the beach, had a campfire and sang karaoke. It was our first time trying an event like this and we immediately rebooked for next fall. The Red Umbrella just made the entire event seem easy and manageable. Our kids had a blast hanging out, which made the parents love it all the more.

Clean room, friendly staff, Kirk (concierge/host) is amazing. Thank you for accommodating us! Location is perfect for a stop on the way up North or staying in the area for a weekend/holidays. It was our exploratory trip and we would definitely be coming back soon.

I'm not one to write reviews but I had to for here and that says a lot. The Red Umbrella Inn is a gorgeous property situated on a nice calm and warm lake. Swimming is fantastic with a nice beach. The water this year has dropped by three feet so there is a lot of shoreline to walk into the water on. Canoeing, kayaking or pedal boats are all available and makes for a nice relaxing adventure. We stayed in the lakeside rooms and it was perfect for what we wanted. Nice large bar fridge and a shower that actually has some serious water pressure. Our next stay will be in a cabin with a kitchen. What makes this place more special is how dog friendly it is. We chose this place for the sole reason our dog could have her own vacation with us. She ran, played, swam. Anytime a dog smiles it makes your stay that much better. The greatest gift of all though was meeting Rusty. Rusty was found as a stray dog some time ago and made the Inn his home. He wonders the property saying hello to everyone, he's super friendly and very well bahaved. For a 15yr old dog, his health is extraordinary. That must tell you something about this place. Rusty is cared for here and he just adds that much more of a gentle greeting to your day. I would 1000% recommend this to anyone, even more if you have a dog you wish to provide a vacation too as well.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Red Umbrella Inn this past weekend and were impressed with the experience provided. Our cottage was nice and cozy, offering a comfortable place to sleep with air conditioning. We enjoyed the Rock the Lake concert Saturday night but what really made our stay special was the outstanding service provided by Kirk, the concierge. He went above and beyond to make sure our stay was enjoyable, from helping us with our boat launch to providing us with local tips. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway close to the Twelve Mile Lake!

Absolutely thrilled with our stay here for 3 nights! The hospitality was warm and welcoming, the rooms were clean and spacious, the hosts and service staff were friendly and kind, and the location was fabulous! Our two large dogs roamed leash free, swam in the lake, made friends with the resident pup Rusty and other guests human and canine. We enjoyed a 3 course dinner on day1, barbecued on day2 and ate superb Korean food on day3. In the evenings, we gathered around the fire pit, where Michael regaled us with stories over toasted marshmallows, and we chatted amicably with the owner over drinks and dinner. Overall, a wonderful stay and we look forward to coming back!

We had a lovely long-weekend at the Red Umbrella Inn. We stayed in the lake view lodge room. The room was a bit dated, but the bathroom was very clean, the room was spacious, and the AC was easy to use. You cant beat the view of the lake too. Waking up to the sound of loons was beautiful. Note: room 28bis 2 twin beds pushed together, there is NO TV, fridge or microwave. But just downstairs is a microwave and fridge for all your leftovers. There are plenty of activities to keep you occupied. We canoed, swam, and used the paddle boats during the day. Sitting under the trees reading a book was perfectly relaxing. And the evening was spent around the fire getting to know the other guests. The restaurant has a lovely view of the water. The food was great, we especially enjoyed our breakfasts. The waitress and chef were wonderful. They provided lovely banter, and recommend some local events to check out. The hosts were top notch. Very attentive and super helpful. We're looking forward to visiting again next summer.

Zee was a fantastic host during our stay, taking care of everything we possibly needed. Combined with being both dog friendly and a great waterfront location with easy access to Minden, Haliburton and Dorset etc, and it was exactly what we were looking for. We'll be back!
